Don’t forget to shop small on November 27th. Small business Saturday was started during the recession in 2010 by American Express with the initiative to help small business owners during the popular Thanksgiving weekend celebration. Most people tend to shop at big box retail stores for Black Friday deals and this was the first time in initiative was placed on shopping at local small businesses to increase their sales as well. 2011 The senate made it an official initiative across all 50 states.
